How To Use Poker Tells To Dramatically Increase Your Odds Of Winning Money

To become a winning poker player you must be firmly aware of the psychology of poker. Even if you only understand the most basic fundamentals of tells. It is still hugely beneficial to any poker player who cares to be a winner.
Every person is the world knows on some level how to read another person. You may not even know what you are doing when you think the bag boy looked sad or your neighbor seemed happy today. There must have been some kind of indicators that made you think those things.
With a little nudge you too can learn how to enhance these "people reading" skills. And easily apply what you have learned to win more money at the poker table.
Let's take a look at some ways to start. Paying attention during a poker game is key to being successful. But, the hunt for tells begins before the game actually starts. It does not matter the type of poker game, tournament or cash, it is always a good idea to seem friendly and likeable.
Put a smile on your face, smile, and spark up a conversation about the weather. Start making friends right away. The players on your right are a preferable place to start, but anyone really will do. You want to build a positive report with the table. You want to come across as a friendly foe.
The Hand Shake
A great ice breaker that works is the hand shake. Walk up or lean over stick out your hand and say "Hi, my name is Jeremy! Hell of a storm brewing out there, huh?" or something to that effect. There are several pieces of information you can gather here that gives you the advantage.
You want to get a baseline reading so approach the subject while in wait not engaged in anything else. The first thing to be aware of is "the squeeze". From my experience the players whom have a stronger than normal tight hand shake usually has something to prove to the world. Its like saying " Hey, look how hard I can squeeze. I bet its stronger than yours."
This can sometimes be linked to there intended style of play, overly aggressive and competitive.
Conversely a weak hand shake can usually be interpreted as a weak style of play, passive and non-competitive.
Changing Color
Another very strong indicator of strength or weakness is skin tone. In college I played on a regular basic with a close friend of mine. We'll call him Jared. Well, as it turns out when Jared bluffed his skin would turn a shade or two more red than usual. Probably because his breathing got shallow or something.
Anyway the point is if you meet another player and later on you notice his skin tone seems a little more pale than before. It is crucial to pay attention to the end result and key moments of the hand. If you can link turning pale to having a monster hand. The advantage is yours and when your edge is greater than your opponents your odds of winning money go up dramatically.
Comport Zone
You can reveal a lot about a player by putting them out of there comfort zone. Wait until you know a player is comfortable and relaxed. Take mental note of their appearance and BAM smack them out of it.
Here are a few ways to get them out of their comfort zone.
1. Tell a dirty joke
2. Get mad for no reason then apologize
3. Spill your drink in there direction
Anything really to get there heart racing. Even for a moment is enough to see that bulging vein in their neck or skin turn red. Any kind of information is important. Remember you are just trying to gauge their response so you can link it later on to weakness or strength.
The best way to get really good at reading poker tells is to jump right in head first. The more you try the easier is becomes. Soon spotting a bluffer will be as easy as spotting your neighbors happiness or grocers sadness.
